Evaluation of spatio-temporal electrocutaneous warning signals

چکیده
Abstract Acoustic or visual warning signals for workers in hazardous situations might fail under loud and/or lowvisibility work situations. A system that uses electrocutaneous stimulation can overcome this problem. The aim of pilot study was to find spatio-temporal patterns appropriate electrical warning. Eight electrode pairs were attached the upper right arm 16 participants. conducted with bi-phasic rectangular pulses 150 μs and an amplitude up 25 mA. Pulse intervals generate a single pulse, pulsating, vibrating, continuous perception as well varying spatial (e.g. alternating between circumferentially around arm) investigated evaluated regard alertness, discomfort, urgency. revealed signal generates vibrating is applied circumferential showed highest values alertness therefore considered potential pattern future studies larger groups.

Evaluation of Tests for Separability and Symmetry of Spatio-temporal Covariance Function
In recent years, some investigations have been carried out to examine the assumptions like stationarity, symmetry and separability of spatio-temporal covariance function which would considerably simplify fitting a valid covariance model to the data by parametric and nonparametric methods. In this article, assuming a Gaussian random field, we consider the likelihood ratio separability test, a va...
متن کاملModeling of spatio-temporal of albedo over Iran
The aim of this study is modeling spatiotemporal variations of albedo. This study was conducted using simultaneous effects of several components, such as wetness of surface layer of soil, cloudiness, topography and vegetation density (NDVI), using MEERA2 model with a resolution of 50 in 50 km during 2000-2010 in Iran. The results of spatial analysis of albedo values in Iran showed that the high...
متن کاملSpatio-Temporal Parameters' Changes in Gait of Male Elderly Subjects
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare spatio-temporal gait parameters between elderly and young male subjects. Methods & Materials: 57 able-bodied elderly (72±5.5 years) and 57 healthy young (25±8.5 years) subjects participated in this study. A four segment model consist of trunk, hip, shank, and foot with 10 reflective markers were used to define lower limbs. Kinematic data c...
متن کاملDesign and Evaluation of Auditory Icons as Informative Warning Signals
Auditory icons – caricatures of everyday sounds – have the potential to convey information by non-verbal means quickly and accurately. Two experiments investigated the application of auditory icons as warning signals to the civil aviation cockpit environment. Warning signals that are iconic and that stand in a direct relation to the event being signalled, such as the sound of coughing to signal...
متن کاملIntermittent spatio-temporal desynchronization and sequenced synchrony in ECoG signals.
Electrocorticographic (ECoG) signals from the brain surface typically exhibit high synchrony across large cortical areas, interrupted by brief periods of desynchronization exhibiting propagating phase discontinuities, across which spatial patterns of phase emerge in selected frequency bands. Experiments with rabbits trained using classical conditioning paradigms indicated that such desynchroniz...
